The City of Whiting
The Mascot Hall of Fame
The Mascot Hall of Fame will be a state-of-the-art, interactive family fun zone with a wide range of exhibits, activities and events that celebrate sports mascots.
Project Overview

The Mascot Hall of Fame was founded in 2005 by the original Philly Fanatic, David Raymond, as an online-only hall to honor sports mascots across the United States. After more than 10 years of existing virtually, the Mascot Hall of Fame will have a permanent, physical home on the south shore of Lake Michigan in Whiting, IN.

Approach

Berglund served as Construction Manager for the City of Whiting for the project. Our role began early in the project, working with the city and architect during the pre-construction phase. As construction has progressed, our role has included coordinating day-to-day activity on site and construction document management. This project represents our third project with the City of Whiting. Our previous work in the city includes the Whiting Community Center and a new Public Works Building.

Outcomes

The Mascot Hall of Fame will be fun and educational. The city is working with Calumet College to write an educational curriculum for the exhibit displays that includes technology, engineering, science, art and mathematics. The building will be open year-round is expected to attract as many as 50,000 visitors annually.
