Designed by Chicago firm Worthmann & Steinbach and completed in 1915, the building was modeled after the 11th-century St. Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv, Ukraine. Designed in the Neo-Byzantine style, St. Nicholas is one of the most impressive church structures in Chicago.
Over the course of multiple years, our restoration team has begun the process of repairing 13 of the exterior copper domes. Our work also includes the restoration and repair of intricate mosaic panels on the primary façade, brick and masonry repairs, clay tile roofing repairs, lightening protection repairs, and re-installation of the newly restored stained glass rosette window.
