The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc., (ABPN) held its official groundbreaking on Monday, October 24. Berglund Construction is collaborating with the top international design firm Perkins Eastman which is working as architect of record and interior designer to create the new headquarters for ABPN. The 41,000 square-foot, two-story facility, designed exclusively to address the needs of the ABPN, includes a large conference center, formal and informal collaboration spaces, and private offices. The building will be L-shaped and will feature wings that form a private outdoor courtyard with a view of the lake.
The unique configuration of the building will be like no other. When visitors enter through the forecourt, they will see straight through a glazed floor-to-ceiling wall to the private courtyard with a view of a lake beyond. A floating communication stair in the two-story lobby atrium lobby will connect the ground and second floors. The building will also hold four 300-square-foot conference rooms, six 50-square-foot workrooms and a 1,000-square-foot café.
The ABPN is a medical board that hosts licensed professionals from around the country to participate in seminars, trainings, policy meetings and collaborate for certain exams.
