The new phase of work, which includes three adjacent buildings on the same site, adds to the ongoing site construction of a new $65-milion, 281,000 sqft medical office building. The new buildings include the 45,000 SF, one-story surgical center; the two-story, 70,000 sqft Carle Specialty Medical Office Building; and the two-story, 80,000 sqft Christie Clinic Medical Office Building. Construction costs will total $70 million.
Carle and Christie Clinic will each have medical office buildings to serve a host of patients’ specialty-care needs. The enhanced partnership will help Carle and Christie Clinic provide an even higher level of care in contemporary space with the most appropriate amenities and exam rooms. Operations performed at Champaign SurgiCenter, as well as many same-day surgeries at Carle Foundation Hospital, will be performed at the new surgical center, freeing up hospital operating room resources for more complex surgeries.
The Christie Clinic medical office building will house various specialties, including:
- Allergy
- Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT), Audiology and Hearing Aid Services
- Foot and Ankle Surgery
- Gastroenterology
- General Surgery
- Ophthalmology
- Orthopedics
- Physical Therapy
- Sports Medicine
- Urology
The Carle medical office building will include:
- Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT), Audiology and Hearing Services
- Optometry, Optical, Ophthalmology and Vitreous Retinal Services
- Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery services currently based at Carle’s location on Kirby Avenue
- Plastic surgery
The surgical center will be built to accommodate future advances that keep pace with medical teaching and research and elevated standards of care. Patients and their family members will appreciate these key features, plus amenities like ample on-site parking, a nearby waiting room and more private recovery space.
