Berglund Construction's Joint Public Safety Training Center Project in Chicago has been awarded the prestigious Award of Merit from ENR Midwest at its Best Project Awards!
This incredible $85 million project brings together various Chicago Police Department and Fire Department training facilities into one cutting-edge, centralized campus. As part of the JV behind this success, Berglund played a significant role in managing local subcontractors, meeting MBE/WBE diversity requirements, and overseeing the creation of this groundbreaking academy.
The Training Academy is a game-changer, offering state-of-the-art indoor training spaces that elevate the capabilities of CPD and CFD while fostering joint training opportunities. With a 200,000 sqft main building packed with amenities – from classrooms and labs to a public safety museum and auditorium – this facility sets a new standard.
We're honored to contribute to the growth and empowerment of our police officers, firefighters, and paramedics, enabling comprehensive cross-training and investing in the West Side of Chicago. Not only will it boost job opportunities, but it'll also host a new Girls and Boys Club, bridging gaps within our urban youth.
Our commitment to inclusivity and diversity shines through this project, and we're immensely proud to be part of this transformative initiative.
