Berglund’s significant growth and exceptional performance in 2016 landed the firm at No. 298 on ENR’s Top 400 Contractor list, which the magazine published on Thursday.
Last year, the firm’s building and restoration divisions thrived in the company’s core markets of education, healthcare and commercial. Berglund completed a diverse range of projects including an addition at Richard Edwards Elementary School in Chicago, an addition and renovation of Gold Eagle’s Corporate Headquarters in Chicago, the new Hospital and Ambulatory Care Center at St. Bernard Hospital in Chicago, a new Public Works Facility / Animal Shelter for the City of Whiting, the restoration of a Victorian mansion into the Stone Terrace Bed & Breakfast – and more.
The year ended with the promise of continued growth in 2017 as the firm broke ground on a new medical office building for Carle Hospital in Urbana-Champaign, Ill., the construction of seven luxurious Italianate style Chestnut Row Homes in Chicago, a new headquarters for the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Deerfield, Ill., the Mascot Hall of Fame in Whiting, Ind., and The Moody Bible Institute’s Chapman Center in Chicago -- all in the final few months of the year.
Berglund’s restoration of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Unity Temple, which began in 2015, will wrap up this year as well.
