Last night Berglund Construction attended the CMC Merit Awards Gala Dinner at The Radisson BLU Aqua Hotel in Chicago. The Merit Awards are considered the “Academy Awards” of the building industry, the recipient of each Merit Award is kept secret right up to the evening of the CBC’s Gala Merit Award Night dinner. The awards are revealed sequentially during the tense moments of reviewing each of the four finalist projects, then announcing the winner.
Berglund was a finalist for both the building divisions’ work on the Physics Research Center at The University of Chicago (New Construction $15 – $55 M) and the restoration divisions’ work on the rehabilitation and historic preservation of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Unity Temple (Renovation & Adaptive Reuse OVER $10M).
The meticulous work performed on the restoration of Unity Temple caught notice of the judges and Berglund was able to take home the win! Jack Tribbia, President of Restoration was able to accept the award on behalf of the entire team.
