At the 2024 Society of Architectural Historians (SAH) SAH Celebrates gala, Berglund Construction was recognized for its significant contributions to the preservation and restoration of Chicago's architectural heritage. The gala, held on November 8, 2024, spotlighted individuals and organizations shaping the built environment and advocating for historic places. This year's event had a distinctly Midwest focus, honoring four Chicago-based notables for their decades-long impact on the preservation and transformation of architectural legacies.
Our team and dedicated Preservation Group were celebrated for our work in restoring and maintaining Chicago's historic landmarks, including the Charnley-Persky House, which is managed by SAH. Fred Berglund accepted the honor on behalf of the company, reflecting on the long-standing relationships built with colleagues, clients, and partners over the years. He emphasized Berglund’s unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality preservation work with meticulous attention to detail. Joining Fred in accepting the award were Jack Tribbia, President of Berglund’s Restoration Division, and Sarah Horton, Preservation Manager, both of whom have played pivotal roles in preserving architectural treasures like the Charnley-Persky House.
The evening brought together over 150 architectural practitioners, advocates, and enthusiasts, celebrating the importance of preserving Chicago’s architectural history. As part of the recognition, SAH Executive Director Ben Thomas and past President Abigail Van Slyck highlighted the honorees' contributions to preserving and communicating the architectural richness of Chicago, while also fostering community engagement through their work.
