Celebrating a milestone in community wellness, Berglund Construction and Porter-Starke Services commemorated the Valparaiso Crisis Center project. This significant project was highlighted during a ribbon-cutting ceremony graced by the presence of Indiana Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch, State Senator Ed Charbonneau, and Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addiction Director Jay Chaudhary.
As the general contractor for this vital project, Berglund Construction proudly contributed expertise and dedication to bring the crisis center to fruition. Scheduled for a January launch, this facility is poised to offer a less restrictive care environment, operating round-the-clock to support individuals navigating mental health crises.
Made possible through federal grants, support from the Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addiction, and financial aid from Porter County's federal American Rescue Plan allocation for facility renovations, the center will provide essential care with five rooms dedicated to adults and three for children and adolescents. This initiative aims to match patients with peer support specialists and reduce unnecessary emergency room visits and incarceration rates.
This collaborative effort between Porter-Starke Services and Berglund Construction underscores our joint commitment to fostering accessible and comprehensive mental health care, reflecting our shared dedication to building resilient and thriving communities.
