Last Friday, the ribbon cutting for the new state-of-the-art Chapman Center at The Moody Bible Institute took place at 10am in front of the building in the Gold Coast neighborhood of Chicago. The institute dedicated the Chapman Center, a global media center on the Chicago campus, named for bestselling author and Moody Bible Institute alumnus, Dr. Gary D. Chapman.
The event started in the auditorium with a prayer service and then headed out to the lawn with faculty, students, the building and design team were all in attendance. Honored guests included, Greg Thornton, interim president, Paul Santhouse, vice president of Moody Publishers and Doug Hastings, vice president of Moody Radio.
The new four-story, 50,000-sqft Chapman Center building is located near Chicago Avenue and Wells Street on the Moody Bible Institute campus. The building will serve as a modern and integrated facility for Moody Bible Radio, which is broadcasted throughout more than 70 countries worldwide. It will also be a training facility for the communications students. The structure is made up of concrete, structural steel and precast floor planks. The building is clad with architectural precast walls panels, fiber cement rain screen panels, curtain wall and storefront glass.
Construction of was completed at the end of August, 2018. Congratulations team on this great event and project!
